I recently played in the "September Swiss" at my local chess club. Since I want to get in the habit of analyzing all of my over-the-board games, I decided I would analyze my games from the tournament. Unfortunately I had to take a bye for round 2 due to a conflict, but my games from rounds 1 and 3 (the tournament only had three rounds) are below:
Takeaways
My rating rose back up to 2005 from the tournament. That being said, I am much happier about the way I played than the result itself. In both games, I played very well in the middlegame but lacked good technique to convert my advantage. Thankfully, I still managed to win against Grayson, but it could have been a draw.
Next, I would like to introduce a new project that I am working on called the "90-Day Challenge." I made up the challenge, but basically it involves doing 2 hours of chess training a day for 90 days in a row. Each day involves 30 minutes of standard tactics, 30 minutes of blitz tactics, and one hour of studying a certain area of the game. If you are interested in the details of the challenge, feel free to watch the intro video below:
I have been consistently sticking to the challenge every day for 14 days in a row now (That's 28 hours of studying already!). Every day, I edit together snippets of my training from that day to create a video. For example, here is the training video from Day 4:
Feel free to check out the entire
90-Day Challenge playlist on my youtube channel if you want to follow my progress daily! Anyway, that's all I have for this blog. I'll do my best to keep posting progress update blogs every month or so. Cheers and don't forget to leave your thoughts in the comments below!
