VIDEO! Webinar 14. Lock a Piece Out
Dear Chess Friends!
This is the recording from the webinar that I conducted this Sunday (8th December). On the webinar I tried to explain how to lock enemy pieces out and what to apply to exploit this advantage!
We analyzed 3 game fragments where grandmasters successfully realized such plans:
- William Winter – Jose Raul Capablanca
- Lev Polugaevsky – Efim Geller
- Andor Lilienthal – Mikhail Botvinnik
You can find the analysis below, but I higly recommend to watch the video. If you don't want to miss any new videos, please, subscribe to my Youtube channel.
The main idea was to lock the enemy piece on the one side of the board and then switch to the other side, open the position there, trade the materal and exploit the advantage of an extra piece on a certain board sector.
Game 1. William Winter – Jose Raul Capablanca
Game 2. Lev Polugaevsky – Efim Geller
Exercise 1. White to move
Exercise 2. Black to move
I conduct webinars every Sunday at 10 a.m. (EST), 3 p.m. (GMT), 6 p.m. (Moscow time). Just follow me on chess.com not to miss the announcement.
