Webinar 111. Basic Endgame Plans
Dear Chess Friends!
I know many of you struggle with plans and planning. You know that middlegame plans are usually the result of how you played the opening. If you know openings well, you probably also know typical middlegame plans and ideas. Your task in this case is just to choose a better one in the concrete position you got. However, on club players level everything may change quickly and often you have to play the position you are not familiar with. How to find the plan in such a case?
There are a lot of factors to take into account, but first of all you should evaluate the position and define weaknesses (in your camp and also in your opponent’s position). You may also attack on the kingside if you have material advantage on that side of the board. Other factors to analyze are: space, pawn structure, kings’ safety, pieces activity and so on.
How to make a plan when you pass the game into the endgame? I always try to do my best and exchange queens, only if my position is already better and I have some material advantage. However, it happens rare and often I have to play an approximately equal endgame. What typical plans do you know there?
Of course, you should create passed pawns, activate your pieces, move the king to the center, create weaknesses into the enemy camp and block enemy passed pawns. Sounds simple, but is difficult to realize in practice.
That’s why I decided to conduct a webinar where we are going to analyze endgames in details and learn step-by step what exactly take into account when you play the endgame. I’m going to provide with a kind of an algorithm or a check-list to go through, before deciding about the plan. I’m glad to invite you to my next 111st webinar “Basic Endgame Plans”.
The webinar starts on Sunday (23th of January) at 9 a.m. (EST), 2 p.m. (GMT), 5 p.m. (Moscow time). This webinar is free.
