Webinar 30. How to Play With and Against Doubled Pawns
Dear Chess Friends!
Every chess player knows that doubled pawns are usually a disadvantage of your position! I think it’s true only if these pawns are isolated. In such a case they may become the objects of the attack especially in the endgame.
It’s very often when you can’t undouble them or even convert a pawn majority to a passed pawn. Another drawback of having doubled pawns is a king weakness, if pawns are doubled on the side where the king is located.
However, despite all this disadvantages we should also pay attention to the benefits that we get: open or semi-open files that we can exploit. Also, one of the doubled pawns may play a role of a “security guard” that covers some key-squares.
Would you like to learn how to exploit benefits of having doubled pawns and how to attack enemy doubled pawns to win the game? Welcome to my next 30th webinar: “How to Play With and Against Doubled Pawns”!
I’m going to illustrate everything by the examples of a few games played by top grandmasters and, of course, explain the ideas behind their moves:
- Mark Taimanov – Alexey Suetin
- Vassily Smyslov – Gideon Stahlberg
- Vassily Smyslov – Vladimir Antoshin
- Efim Geller – Isaac Lipnitsky
I also prepared 2 exercises for you! I’m sure you will be able to play better after you do them!
The webinar starts on Sunday (26th of April) at 10 a.m. (EDT), 2 p.m. (GMT), 5 p.m. (Moscow time). This webinar is free.
