Webinar 79. How to Take Advantage of the Lead in Development
Dear Chess Friends!
I’m a classical chess player. I prefer controlling the center, developing pieces and improving coordination between them rather than ceding the center. And this is what I also teach my students. That’s why, it’s very often when they develop their pieces faster and to the better positions than their opponents. However, sometimes they just don’t know how to continue and how to take the advantage of their lead in development. As a result, the other side tries to equalize or even overtake the initiative.
How to play in such cases? What exactly should be done on the board? Well… It depends on the position, however, there are 2 common scenarios: you can either take the advantage immediately by opening the position or continue your pieces development and try to convert better development later!
This is what we are going to cover on our next 79th webinar “How to Take Advantage of the Lead in Development” where I’ll explain what to do to develop your pieces faster and how to realize this advantage in different types of positions. And I’m glad to welcome you to this webinar!
Of course, everything will be illustrated by GM’s games. The games I'm going to demonstrate at the webinar (and, of course, explain the ideas behind their moves):
- Mikhail Tal – Wolfgang Uhlmann
- Mikhail Tal – Tigran Petrosian
- Yasser Seirawan – Anatoly Karpov
