Argentine Faustino Oro, aged 10 years, 8 months and 16 days, shared first place with Colombian Cristian Hernández in the closed chess tournament held at the Barcelona Chess Club and became the youngest player to obtain the International Master norm.

Oro, who is only the third player in history to achieve this achievement before the age of 11, finished the tournament undefeated after nine rounds with six wins and three draws to finish with 6.5 points.

The Argentine achieved his third and final norm in Barcelona a month after obtaining the second in Medellín Colombia a month ago, the first having been in Argentina in October 2023.
