Hello!

As you know, in the end of April Chess.com removed Russian flag due to [] in Ukraine. Actually, I don't regret about it, but... Chess.com's decision needs to be improved.

And I had one idea.

«Hello [Erik]!

I'm sorry that I write that personally to you. My brother and I tried to solve that question with the Support Service, but almost without any results.

The topic of my message is probably similar to the topics of the majority of messages, which Chess.com Staff receives from Russian players. Yes, it's about flags.

First of all, I'd like to say that personally I (I don't know anything about other my compatriots, who play on Chess.com) completely understand the position of the site about Russia and [] in Ukraine. Moreover, I particularly agree with it and [] Ukraine. After the recent events, I'm convinced that it's impossible to return Russian standard flag right now.

BUT.

Now there is a special "opposition" flag of Russia — white-blue-white flag. It's often used on the anti-[] meetings in Russia and not only. I understand the sanctions against Russia, but I consider, that in the places, where it's possible, it must be distributed ONLY TO PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT THE []. And it's not especially my opinion. For example, you can read the famous Russian and Ukrainian oppositional journalist []. And it's just one example.

Chess.com, as opposed to the political organs, has the opportunity to create the model of "selective sanctions". I suggest the following scenario:

•Chess.com does not return the white-blue-red flag and keep showing the blue square with the link to the article about [] Ukraine

•Instead of it, it adds the opportunity to change the flag to white-blue-white, also with the special link.

•White-blue-white flag becomes the "main" flag on Chess.com, it's used for designation Russia in the Insights etc.

I think, it would be fair both for supporters of the [] and people, who consider the [] is crime. What do you think?

Thank you for your attention.

Alexei»

Yes, I sent exactly this message to the Chess.com General Director @erik. And I'm really grateful to him, because he answered me. No jokes.

«Thank you and I appreciate this. If it were easier technically to do this, I would. Unfortunately it is actually weirdly hard to do it at this time sad.png» - Erik

Of course, I understand Erik's position. But... If one person asks about something, it's a miracle when their desire becomes reality. And when, for example, 100 people ask about something, there may be another effect.

So, I'd ask you to help me. Please write that you agree with my idea (if it's really so lol) in the comments to this article.

Thank you!

Some words in my blog were disguised for my security. But everyone understand, what's hiding under the brackets or orange squares.
