Happy Wednesday! I would like to give a shout-out to yesterday's winner - @hvenki! I thereby award him with 5 more trophies!

Solution to Yesterday's Puzzle:

Answer: 1. Qa7+ Kc8 2. Qa8+ Bb8 3. Qa6#
The white queen checks the black king by playing Qa7+, backed up by the pawn on b6. The king is forced to move to c8, and has no more safe squares. Meanwhile, the Queen brings in a strong attack by playing Qa8+, forcing the king to block the attack and move the black-squared bishop to b8. With the king trapped, the white Queen can easily move to a6, ending the game for black. The black king cannot escape, capture or block the white Queen!

Puzzle of the Day:

Today's puzzle also comes directly from a game played by Paul Morphy, one of the most infamous chess players of all time! Black to move and mate in 4!

Please send me a personal message of the solution once you have figured out how to beat white! The winner/winners will be announced tomorrow in the next blog post! Good Luck! You're gonna need it.

Please do not cheat! That is all I am going to say. Do not ruin it for others!

Fact of the Day:
- In 1985, Eric Knoppert played 500 games of 10-minute chess in 68 hours!(I wonder if he fell asleep?)

Stay tuned for tomorrow's puzzle. I hope to see some answers from you all. Remember to SEND me a MESSAGE, NOT a CHAT, because I may not be online to accept your chat invitation.

Thank you, and feel free to leave suggestions on how I can improve this blog!
