Viswanathan Anand - The 8th Highest Rated Player in History

Viswanathan Anand. He is the highest rated chess player ever from India, with a peak rating of 2817. He is also the first GM from his country, attaining his title in 1988, at the age of 19. Known by some as the "Tiger of Madras" he was a former 5-time World Chess Champion, until he was dethroned by Magnus Carlsen. 

A fun fact about Vishy, in 2022, he was elected to be the deputy president of FIDE! 

Over the years, Vishy has been known for his risk-taking ruthless attacking style which has earned him quite a few notable wins! 

In this game, Vishy convincingly beats Magnus Carlsen(his successor) in a tournament in Spain, back in 2007! 

This game is definitely worth checking out, and can help you in your games very much! The concepts of exchange sacrifice, superior minor pieces, and initiative are extremely clear throughout the game and are worthy of being noted!
