Bad Chess Day Advice

Greeting folks!

Quick blurb today, yesterday was possibly one of the worst chess days I've had on the 64 squares. Loss after loss after loss.

The most important thing to do when this is happening is to not continue to bash your face against the checkered board. Take a moment away from it, study where you're making blunders, have another cup of coffee, or just try again tomorrow.

The worst thing that you can do is constantly play game after game without trying to figure out why in the first place you're losing. Instead, you keep making the same mistakes, rush blindly forward with impatience without thinking, and lose even more ELO due to your need to "get that win".

Slow down friend, take your time. Chess improvement is a marathon, not a race. Do some puzzles, do some lessons, and most importantly, study your games, and by that, I mean really look at them step by step. See how you could have played multiple different lines throughout the game.

Only by studying your failures can you lessen your blunders, and thereby be more successful in the game.

Til' next time folks!
