Commentary: It’s easy to be a blogger… you just write down your thoughts and post. The trick is to get someone to read your drivel.
Somebody… anybody, please.
~ With the Chess.com Daily Game chess tournament over for me, I’m returning to my perpetual obsessing over blogging and studying chess. My wife wonders when I will spend more time with her… well, you get the idea. Anyway, it’s back to Chess.com and the analysis board when I can slip away for a couple of hours!
=!!!= IDEAs: Join a chess club. Join up if you want to play. There are lots of clubs to check out, and friends to be made from all over the world. Don’t miss out! I just joined another club.
>> >> I just posted this in the forum on the IMPROVERS club: “As an owner of more than 300+ chess books, it's hard to make a single selection from all of my 60+ years of study, but I'm currently studying the games of Alekhine "My best games of chess," and "Zurich, 1953." by David Bronstein, "Mastering Chess Middlegames," by Alexander Panchenko, "The Art of Attack," by Vukovic, and finally... poring over the excellent five-volume book series "My Great Predecessors," by Gary Kasperov. <whew> I’m going to be very busy this year PS: I write a chess blog and make recommendations frequently.”
“For endgames I am also enjoying "Endgame Tactics," by Van Perlo.”
=+= Online playing tips: I know I keep harping on this,
but consider the time… on daily games, please don’t time out! Most OTB tournaments consider leaving without resigning in poor taste. It’s bad chess etiquette. We all understand you might have online connection problems, though. It has happened to me as well… I won’t judge, but I’m “old school” about respecting the game and your opponent.

My personal Training Logbook
Do I study too much? My wife says “yes,” but I say, “absolutely not!” … “by the way, when’s dinner ready?”
~ Thanks to Chess.com, I will always have at least a half-dozen games going on.
~ You might notice in the future that I will be playing more training games. It’s all according to the plan I am currently developing. This is what my blog is all about… following a plan to get better at playing the greatest game ever! If it works for me, it might just work for you too. ;o)
>> I posted the following on IMPROVERS: “When I was in high school, I met this kid down the block, who was nerdy like me, and challenged him to play a few games of chess. We played ten games on his doorstep, and I lost by a score of 8.5-1.5 ~ It was the first time I ever lost that many games in one day! We both were impressed enough to become great friends. I borrowed the first chess book I ever read from him, "Chess the Easy Way," by Rubin Fine. That was only the beginning.” His name was Roger. He eventually became a rocket scientist and went into space… Roger that. (just kidding)
>> There is nothing like playing against a real human being!
click on that challenge button and make your move!
To all my new-found online chess friends: challenge me anytime.
~ I won’t refuse, unless it’s Blitz and I’m not sitting at my computer. Perhaps I should load the Chess.com app on my iPhone?!
>> BTW: I still have a lot of chess books in my personal library.
I plan on selling most of them before I pass on.
… Contact me if you’re interested. 😉
