The Chess.com Daily Game chess tournament Report

# My personal status F Still running with the pack.
>>> I’m in 5th place now with a score of 15-6.
four players in my group are still playing, including me!

Commentary: I’m currently analyzing my games in this tournament.  I hope to post a couple of my best soon.  Wow, I wasn’t ready for all the serious involvement and time spent on the games.  Now all the remaining games are being played out more slowly.  One competitor in my group is in the lead with 19.5-2.5, but another is undefeated with 18-0 and has four games left to play.  It appears that he will eventually win because he has two more winning games in the process.  He likely will go on with 20-0 or perhaps even undefeated.  The competition is getting harder!
>> I find it interesting that so many of my competitors have a daily rating in the 1100’s but play much stronger than my opponents did in OTB tournaments.  For instance, my USCF rating is 1439 (dropped from 1700+ in 1985), yet my daily rating is only 1206!  But be forewarned… I’m ramping up my studies and playing lots of hard games.  I plan on regaining my former strength and improving.  😉  I still have dreams of becoming a master.

>> I just posted on the tournament chat: “Why do people take so long to make their move?  Some people have jobs and don't have time to consider their moves like an OTB game with the clock ticking.  Other people have families that need attention too.  That's what is so great about this daily tourney.  Personally, my wife hates chess, but she wants my attention as well.  I'm loving this event, and I'm inspired to fight hard.  Good luck to all.”
- For some strange reason, when I refreshed the page, my post was gone.

=!!!= IDEA: Join a chess club.  I’m playing a match (at 3rd board) in the Knights Chess club -vs- King’s Fury, which has already started.  Join up if you want to play.  There are lots of clubs to check out, and friends to be made from all over the world.  Don’t miss out.  I just joined another club.

=+= Online playing tips: Consider the time… on daily games don’t time out!  Most OTB tournaments consider leaving without resigning in poor taste.
It’s bad chess etiquette.  I will understand if you have online connection problems, though.  It has happened to me as well.

My personal Training Logbook

I enter all of my chess games into my personal database and record all my thoughts and variations there.  When the game is done, my analysis is nearly finished.

>> Of course, I play practice games with Bots and Fritz.  I also would like to have practice matches with my online friends, say in a 20/20 format.  Ideally, we would play a specific opening for practical experience.  There is nothing like playing against a real human being!

>> Recently, I have binge-studied for about 5+ hours a day.  I’m quite excited about playing in the Chess.com Daily Game chess tournament and online club matches. 😉  Sooner or later, I’ll get into a two or three-hour daily routine and spend more time with my wife and guitar.
>> PS: I have a lot of chess books in my personal library.  I plan on selling most of them before I pass on.  Contact me if you’re interested.

Chess as a “No Brainer.”
What, are you kidding me?

Many years ago I saw this box on the shelf of a thrift-store and bought one on a lark.  Last year for Christmas, I got this as a gift.  Now I have two unopened boxes! :D
