The Chess.com Daily Game chess tournament Report

# My personal status F Still running with the pack.
>>> I’m in 4th place now with a score of 12-2.
Seven players in my group are still playing.

Commentary: It seems to me that most of the players I’m still playing have consistently played far above their posted rating.  Good for them.  Of course, I’m comparing the play to my experience OTB in tournaments.  Based on that, I would say the range of strength I have experienced from my opponents would be closer to 1500+.  In some of the games I would say that I am facing an 1800 level of strength.  As for myself, I know I can play much better than my rating would indicate.  But then again, I’m new to online chess and my rating is based on casual games played with a few friends online.

I currently have twelve wins listed to two losses.  The losses were by resignation, the wins were all by timeout.  I’m quite disappointed with this.

Online playing tips: Consider the time… on daily games don’t time out!  Most OTB tournaments consider leaving without resigning in poor taste.
It’s bad chess etiquette.

My personal Training Logbook

I am entering all my chess activities into my personal appointment book so I can track time spent.  I will make future appointments according to a plan.  I’m going from a haphazard approach to an organized methodology.

>> So far, my progress in endgame study has gone like this:
(1) basic mates.  (2) B+N mate (3) K+P vs K (4) Q vs P (5) R+P vs R
 and now I am studying the very difficult Q vs R ending.
>> Every day, I begin with endgame drills with what I already know, then study more on what I’ve listed above.

Training Log:

1/5/25 60min chess puzzles
1/6/25 60 min Endgames, Q vs rook
1/6/25 45min chess puzzles
1/7/25 60 min Endgames, Q vs rook
1/7/25 15min chess puzzles
