# My personal status F Still running with the pack.
>>> I’m in 5th place now with a score of 15-5.
four players in my group are still playing.
Commentary: I still have two games going on in this tournament. One of them is going badly. Yet I will play on. I obviously will not move on to the second round, but I have gained valuable experience. I currently have fifteen wins with five losses.
In all my losses I resigned and congratulated my opponent. All but one of the wins were by timeout. What’s up with this?
=+= Regarding ratings and all the posts I’ve read about sandbagging… I’m making a personal note to simply add 300+ points and not worry about it. It’s all about the game going on. Play the position and not the number.
=!!!= IDEA: Join a chess club. I have registered to play a match (at 3rd board) in the Knights Chess club -vs- King’s Fury, which has already started. Join up if you want to play.
=+= Online playing tips: Consider the time… on daily games don’t time out! Most OTB tournaments consider leaving without resigning in poor taste.
It’s bad chess etiquette.

My personal Training Logbook
I am entering all my chess games into my personal database and recording all my thoughts and variations there. When the game is done, my analysis will be nearly finished.
>> So far, my progress in endgame study has gone like this:
(1) basic mates. (2) B+N mate (3) K+P vs K (4) Q vs P (5) R+P vs R
and now I am studying the very difficult Q vs R ending.
>> Every day, I begin with endgame drills with what I already know, then study more on what I’ve listed above. I know that my study log looks like I spend a lot of time, but I’m an older, retired chess player who actually does have a lot of time on my hands. 😉 PS: I have a lot of chess books in my personal library. I plan on selling most of them before I pass on. Contact me if you’re interested.
