My most exciting game from Bunratty 2016
This year at Bunratty I was taught a lesson in opening theory by a little girl. She gained a massive advantage out of the opening, pressed her advantage hard, and I was lucky she made one or two inaccuracies towards the end to allow me to secure the draw.
The whole thing was very exciting and, much as I'd love to win all my games, it was a pleasure to play. Based on what I saw in Bunratty girls chess is in good health in Ireland in 2016, I hope it bodes well for the future.
The main learning point I took is to play 6...c5 to survive the opening.
