Chess Tactics Explained-Oposition- FOR Intermediate PLAYERS
If you would say that which is more importent, beginning middle game or endgame i would say endgame. Why? Well, it's beacause a lot of games win lose or draw in the endgame. So i am going to foucus on endgames "tactics" today.
OPOSITION
Oposition is a tactic with the kings facing each other one square away. In fact it helps you win/draw a chess game when you are losing. I use this a lot and it works 99% of the time because if your opponent has an extra pawn. Take a look here.
Black is going to lose when white gets the oposition. King to D4 and white wins. No matter which way black goes he loses. I am going to pick the right for an example. Now another tactic. It's called out flanking. We are pushing the black king away from the side. Kc4 and white is going to collect the pawn and win. Garry Kasparov calls it shouldering like we are pushing the black king away with our shoulder.
DIAGNAL OPPOSITION
It's just what it sounds like. Getting the opposition from a diagnal. I am going to use the same position as before but change it up a little.
You could out flank black but the diagnal oposition is 1 move faster. After KF4 this is the diagnal opposition. KE3 and then KE4 and we have now got the regluar opposition. (Where the kings face each other one square.) And when the king moves then we go and take the pawn and win!
