E4 vs D4 Which have better win rates?

Today, I am going to be answering a question... e4 or d4, which have better win rates?

So, do find that i am using the explorer in chess.com.  LINK: https://www.chess.com/explorer

It turns out that d4 has a better win rate, of 39% than 38%.  But lets look at GM Hikaru's winrate.

As you can see, GM Hikaru has a 53% win rate! So, it doesn't really matter right?  Well, yes and no.  What i mean by that is it depends what opponent you are playing and what opening in e4* (and d4).  For example lets say you play a 2300 when you are only 1500.  Are you going to beat him/her?  Chances are, no.  But let's say you are playing a 1500. Are you going to win?  Well, it depends on the opening.  If you study the scotch and play it but the opponent plays a different move than you were expecting then you might lose!  Since you haven't studied that move.

But what about d4? Well, when i type GM Jeffery Xiong then he has a win rate MORE than d4

So what should i play?  It depends, if you like playing gambits and attacking then you should go for e4 (not necessarily) but if you like a longer game that doesn't have much action then you might like d4*.  For me, i like alternating between the two openings.  Like one game i play e4 then the next game i play d4.  So there you have it!  It doesn't really matter what you play!  As long as you study some openings that you like, you will crush your opponents in no-time!
