I owe my love for chess to Dr. Tony Palmer. If I never met Tony Palmer, I would've been unable to transcend my talent. I would've had an unfulfilled life, lacking a passion to transform my life. During this Pandemic, I've been avoiding chess. It was becoming an annoying hindrance that I didn't want to deal with. My once burning passion was dying, and my love for chess was becoming more and more evanescent. After Dr. Palmer passed away on August 22nd, I realized I could never give up chess. The memories, lessons, and countless hours of toil are something that I'll never dismiss. Giving up chess would be like removing a part of my personhood, and therefore, it would be impossible. Tony sharpened my skills and helped me learn from my mistakes. The best way that I can thank him is to help others improve like he did for me. Tony Palmer was not only a great coach, he was also an excellent player. In his prime, he played some beautiful chess. The following games are some of the best games he's ever played. He will always be remembered for his great games, his aggressive and tactical style, his eagerness to help talented players improve, and the many lessons he's taught. Rest in peace Tony Palmer.
