Can ChatGPT beat Engine Level 25?
AI has been the talk of the town recently, but despite its greatness being evident, can it actually play chess. This was a question on my mind, so I put the most popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT up against a beast, Engine Level 25. Will ChatGPT be able to do the undoable? In the given game ChatGPT played with the white pieces and Engine Level 25 played with the black pieces.
An Interesting Game
So, it turns out that ChatGPT cannot play chess. The opening moves were pretty solid by both the sides, but ChatGPT made its biggest blunder on the 8th move itself. Analysis shows that ChatGPT play with an accuracy of 81.1 which is not bad it is mostly because the game was so small and the room for error was tiny. To sum it up, both sides had a good opening, ChatGPT blundered on the 8th move, losing the queen. From that point onwards the game had already been lost for ChatGPT, no queen against a bot with a rating of 3200 translated to defeat, Another thing is that ChatGPT is really not good at chess, not only because it blundered and lost its queen, but also because when I was trying to make these two compete it kept on giving me invalid moves, and I had to ask it to make a different move.
