Englund's Gambit (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile)

My favourite Gambit is by far Englund's Gambit because of its enticing pressure that it leaves on the opponent leaving them with not much choice but to fall into the trap (especially at lower ratings)

Englund's Gambit

This gambit is my favourite because once the opponent has fallen for the first pawn it leaves them optionless but to keep taking your pieces and make them feel like they are winning and playing against what they think must be the worst player I have ever played against and all of a sudden you throw your bishop to f2 which forces the king to take because he is in check and leaves him with no alternative but to leave his queen unguarded and hanging for your queen to snatch it right from him. Usually ending in a very quick resignation.

The reason that I started playing chess was to improve as a person and a strategical thinker. I have read the many benefits of this game which include brain functionality, these are just some of the benefits to playing this game
  • Developing Perspective
  • Improving Memory
  • Increasing Intelligence
  • Deepening Focus

These are just some of the reasons that I play this game, besides these benefits I also enjoy this game because it is fun and I like the competitive side of the game.
