BREAKING NEWS: Carlsen wins 6th game, and longest WCC game ever.
Magnus Carlsen and Ian Nepomniachtchi have just finished their first sixth game which was a win for Magnus and the first win of the entire match. It was first decisive WCC chess game in over 5 years. The other very important thing about game six is that it is the longest game in world championship history being a whopping 136 moves! The players have both just had a rest day and several people had predicted that we would be seeing a more exciting game today and they were right. Not surprisingly they played a new opening which was Queen's Pawn Opening: Pseudo-Catalan Variation. This win for Magnus has just put the score at 2.5 to 3.5 in Magnus's favor. Here is the game.
After playing such a long game (it started at 11 a.m. and ended almost/around 5 hours around they still had amazing accuracy Magnus's was 99.1%, and Ian's 98.4%. At the end Carlsen was only +1, but he was in a position where he had 2 pawns, 1 knight and 1 rook. However, Nepo had only one queen. Now to win the tournament Nepo must return from his disadvantage of 1 point. It seems that my prediction may come true.
