Kids, Don't Try This at Home!

On Tuesday, September 28th, I played in two tournaments at the same time! It all started with Meltwater at eight o’clock playing against Wesley So and then two hours in, starting Titled Tuesday. Immediately after the end of Titled Tuesday, I managed to beat Wesley in the blitz tiebreaks.  Beating Wesley always feels great given how Wesley has cemented himself as an absolute top player in this format and a serious competitor to Carlsen.  Titled Tuesday was going very well and it came to the last game, me playing white and needing not more than a draw to win the entire event. After achieving a winning game, with just barely a few minutes before the Meltwater tiebreak, I blew a winning game and the tournament! Ouch!  It was a shame, I could’ve put myself on the record books, beating Wesley and winning Title Tuesday all at the same time. Despite not winning both it was a remarkable experience, but as the title says, “don’t try this at home, kids!”
