Hello! Everyone,

I welcome you all to the Fascinating Five Series.

Introduction to the Fascinating Five :

  • This is a series in which we analyze and learn 5 positions that truly give us the chess wisdom.
  • This series is divided into three sections endgames, middlegames/tactics, chess studies, and compositions,
  • In the future, I hope to include a Games section too.

okay, Let's dive into the topic. But before that, we must know the difference between theoretical and practical endgames.

Theoretical are the ones we need to understand from the stem position and analyses given by distinguished grandmasters, while the practical ones are to be played and analyzed carefully. They are the endings that arise from practical play, such positions require deep understanding and calculations. In those positions, there may be traps that "more than meets the eye".

Let's start working on such positions.

The above position shows us that, how many details are there on the board even when the materials are drastically reduced.

A nice position that shows the importance of the complete calculation of variations so that we won't miss out on things.

The above position teaches us to be alert on the board at all the phases of the play.

As the last position of this section, I want to share a position that teaches us two things,

  • Never Give Up
  • Never Hurry

And that's all for today folks.

I hope you had a nice time reading this blog.

If you have any suggestions kindly post them in the comments section so that I could improve myself.
