Middlegame Lessons Part-2: Opposite Colored Bishops
Hello chess.com friends,
I welcome you all to the continuation of the middlegame lessons series. I have written the previous part on the topic of prophylaxis, which you can find here...https://www.chess.com/blog/Hua-Mulan13/middlegame-lessons-part-1-prophylaxis
In Today's article we will discuss middlegame positions with opposite colored bishops. Opposite colored bishops are said to bring equality, but it is not the case in all the positions. Ok! Let's start...
Position 1
- The king is weak
- the bishop on e5 is very dangerous
- the files are open
- the squares before the king are vulnerable
- dark square weaknesses
Position 2
Position Study :
- Black has pawn islands
- the squares around the king is weak
- white's quick centralisation made the position into a kind of forcing one
- in the later phase, black's king came to the d5-square and got extremely vulnerable to attack
Ok Friends, That's all for today. Hope you got ideas from the two positions stated above.
See you all later with a new topic. Thankyou! everyone.
