4 player chess tips for being in 1700 +

Hey guys , here are a few useful tips to easily make it to the top 1700+ in 4 player chess.

Read fully till the end to benifit from it.

1) DO NOT EXCHANGE PIECES.

Exchange does not just mean bishop to bishop or queen to queen. Even giving a knight for a bishop in some cases is useless as you weaken yourself to the other 2 remaining. So look for advantage captures only.

2) DONT PROMOTE TO QUEEN IMMEDIATELY.

Running and rushing pawns for queens is a big blunder, since you end up opening the entire interior. Always maintain a closed pawn structure and advance only once your king is safe.

3) DO NOT CASTLE.

It might sound wierd, but yes do not castle. Castle allows the rook to come outside, but leaves the inside flank undefended. Hence the players can sacrifise materials and pierce through to checkmate the king, instead move the king manually 2 squares.

4) DO NOT BE A HERO, WAIT FOR OTHERS TO CANCLE OUT.

Patience in attack is the key to sucess in 4 player chess. See your chance and attack.

5) BE CAREFUL WITH THE PLAYER TO YOUR LEFT.

The player to your left has maximum advantage on you. Since he gets to attack you, but you can defend only the other 2 have finished their turns. So dont get checked or fdont leave a queen open to the player on your left.

6) RIGID PAWN STRUCTURE.

Even if you blunder every piece and just have about a rook and a bishop and a knight, you can still win, with a strong pawn structure. In my very own games I came across such cases. In that case, just hold and support your pawns, dont advance, dont capture attention. Just wait, once the others cancle, then you can comeback.

These are a few tips, where you can improve the game and advance your rating to above 1700.
