First Completely Computer Generated Movie
When you think of 3D computer generated movies, you most likely think of a Pixar movie. That comes as no surprise if you do, as Pixar is the leader in the animated films industry. They have set multiple milestones in animated movies, including making the first full-length 3D computer animated film. Toy Story.
There were already full-length movies with 3D computer animation in them, such as Tron, but they were not entirely computer generated. Even if they were mostly, there was still some live action, and backlit animation. Pixar had also made several short films prior to Toy Story, but only a few minutes long.
The closest that anybody had come to full-length movies, was Big Idea, with Veggietales. Veggitales was (and still is) an animated Christian TV show about fruits and vegetables that are alive, and they teach Bible story's. And other stuff. At one point, Pixar actually called Veggitales to ask how they did the cheek-puffing animation, which they ended up using in Toy Story.
On November 22nd 1995, Toy Story was released into theaters. This marked a huge moment in cinematography. After that, 3D CG films became a lot more common. But still, it was Pixar who did it first. And something that really stood out to me is that Pixar, now the largest animated movie company, called Veggietales, now a mostly forgotten show, when they were getting their start. Asking them how to animate something! It just blows my mind. Well, I guess that is all for now. Cya later!
