4 worst openings for beginners
Have you learnt a chess opening and did not have a good time playing it?
This blog explains you which openings you should avoid for both white and black and will hopefully help you climb the rating ladder.
1. Ruy Lopez opening / Spanish Game.
This opening is absolutely not good for beginners as there is too much theory to this opening which makes it hard to remember. Black can play the Berlin defense , the Classical variation and tons of other efficient airlines. Another reason this is bad because most beginners will attack your bishop which means white loses tempo and black gets development.
2. King's pawn opening Wayward Queen attack.
This opening is known for its aggressiveness. However after a certain point you will face opponents who will know how to deal with this opening which means you will be lacking development and this opening strategy will immediately backfire and you will in lost positions. There are many beginners playing this opening and instantly regretting their decision
Sicilian defense
This opening is absolutely not worth playing especially at beginner level as this opening has surprisingly got way more theory than the Ruy Lopez and opponents at this level will most likely not know how to deal with and will play some kind of Anti Sicilian positions which is not good for beginners because there will be many middlegame difficulties. There are also variations that crushes this opening such as the Wing Gambit.
4. Ware defense
While your opponent focuses on the center with e4 e4 c4 you play a5. This bad because you allow your opponent to keep developing and creating threats and for an average beginner it will be extremely difficult for them to defend and comeback in these positions.
