Hi, and everyone out there you might be wondering why chess was created.

Chess was created by some Indians in the 6th century and back then instead of naming it chess they named it chaturanga. And the reason you ask, they created chess/chaturanga because they wanted to improve there strategy for battling and train army troops without any dieing.

There were also elephants, infantry, cavalry, and chariots.

The initial setup for a game of chaturanga.

Chaturanga spread from India to Peru and after a few hundred years it becomes the we are all playing right here right now. The modern rules of chess, with its characteristic 8x8 board and pieces, emerged in Italy and Spain by the 15th century.

This is a more complicated example

Chess or the precursors to chess were both a pastime and a part of learning. Chess pieces were originally arranged in the chaturanga like an army in battle: infantry, cavalry, elephants and chariots. This evolved into the modern pawn, knight, bishop and rook.

Chess was not created by a single inventor, but rather evolved from earlier games like chaturanga in India by the 6th century CE. Its origins are shrouded in some mystery, but the most widely accepted theory is that it was a way to train warriors and strategists without resorting to actual warfare.
