GM Gukesh D has unleashed the Fischer point advantage in the 2024 FIDE championship. It is here on Game 11 that it is hard not to look back on champion GM Ding Liren's chances in Game 5 or wherever else.

The game I discuss below belongs solely to Game 11 of the 2024 World Championship that recently concluded.

Both Maurice Ashley and Gukesh D were humble with their commentary on the pressure in this game as Ding left Q&A early on. Gukesh mentioned that some parts of the game were what he believes became a mess up on his part. But, I applaud Gukesh for making the most of this position:

The pawn on b6 (much like Ding's a3 pawn from Game 1 helping his knight advance to Gukesh's queenside) and the bishop on a3 (A signature move used by Ding in several to various games) couldn't be a better response as done here together!

Congratulations, GM Gukesh D, coach Gregorz Gajewski and the rest of Gukesh's team on today's preparation, that Gukesh admits was not entirely his best momentum, but achieved the win nonetheless.

Before this championship began, I got Ding Liren on my personality test. While Ding won Game 1, which didn't entirely surprise me given his then undefeated streak against Gukesh, I kept in mind that Gukesh's building form was more than capable of taking the edge with what we saw today. I still stand by Ding, as he looks to make a comeback much like against GM Ian Nepomniachtchi last year. The chances appear slim but not most improbable like what some Chess spectators suggested back in April 2023.
