Chess - The Last One Standing
Months ago in Tata Steel, I speculated GM Vincent Keymer being the last one standing in Round 2, playing the only remaining game, which if hypothetically won, would gain him the lead. Said game not too surprisingly drew. GM Praggnanandha R went on to edge out GM Gukesh D in the tiebreaker finale, which given the consecutive lineup of rounds, breezed past my catching up with it. I still find it difficult to pinpoint the PGN online.
Along comes Freestyle where Vincent Keymer does prove the last one standing against Caruana.
First line of tactical thinking, Fabi's tactical 9 move rook sacrifice against understandably unsuspecting GM Alireza Firouja (We've all been there) is all flipped with both rooks in the center, where Keymer knew that a Queen along the h file does just fine, given just 1 diagonal worth a squeeze through.
