The future world chess star Magnus Carlsen was born on November 30, 1990 in Norway in a small town called Tønsberg. Magnus's father, Henrik Carlsen, is an engineer by profession and a big fan of chess with a rating of 2100. It was his father, as often happens, who interested young Magnus in chess. However, the first attempt was unsuccessful: Hellen’s 5-year-old son and daughter were not interested in the game. But after 3 years, the children began to like the activity. The brother turned out to be more capable than his sister, and she very quickly gave up chess, and a year later Magnus himself beat his father in blitz and the family decided to hire a coach for their son, who became Thornbjorn Hansen, a qualified master.

In 2004, at the age of 13, Carlsen became a grandmaster. This event attracted the attention of the chess world to him, and even then many experts predicted the chess crown for the Norwegian prodigy. After 2 years, Magnus wins the national championship, and a year later in Biel he wins his first international tournament. In the same 2007, the Norwegian reached an Elo rating of 2710 points. Carlsen is only 16 years old and he is the youngest chess player who managed to break such a high bar at that age. Magnus continues to perform successfully in various tournaments, including victories in the Dutch Wijk aan Zee, the Spanish Linares, as well as in Moscow, London, etc.

In 2009, Carlsen collaborated with G. Kasparov
