Oktoberfest is a Bavarian custom, now celebrated around the world.  It started as a folk festival, and lasts for a little over two weeks.  It ends on the first weekend in October.

In the 1980s, my boyfriend (now-husband) and I flew to München as part of a trip that took us to West Berlin, Hamburg, and London (to meet his parents).  The last part was nerve-wracking, but Germany was lovely.

We saw one day a beautiful castle built by Ludwig.  And we spent some time at the Hofbrau Haus.  It has been near 35 years since that trip, but I fondly remember the German people, the food, and the beer!

German beer, because of the purity laws, is the epitome of craftsmanship.  Tell me what your favorite beer is.  And what do you like to have to eat or snack when you are drinking beer?
