Playing better fast chess

I suck at blitz. I suck even more at bullet.

I've noticed two types of chess players here: those whose ratings increase with the duration of the game (like me), and the opposite (I imagine these people have very quick and extensive opening repertoires).

My mind goes blank under pressure, it seems. I try to desensitize myself to it by playing a whole bunch of bullet games in a row, to no avail. Maybe I just can't think that fast... yet.

An idea: Play progressively faster games. Start with long time controls and reduce them until my brain starts blanking under pressure. Stay there and get better at that time control before reducing it further.

Now, if I can just find an hour to commit to a game...
