Marvel Characters 101: Mysterio

I think I'll start doing some posts about Marvel characters that pick a certain character, and give a bit of history and interesting facts about them. The first one is none other than Mysterio himself

First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #13

Powers: Special Effects/Illusions, Hypnotism, Hand to Hand Combat

Enemies: Spider-Man, Daredevil

Biography: Quentin Beck works as a special effects guy in Hollywood when he decided to use his gifts of illusion for evil plans. His first act was to rob a museum and use illusions to frame Spidey, but the resourceful hero managed to catch Mysterio on tape, and he was promptly jailed. Hungry for revenge, Mysterio escapes and join a group of villains called the Sinister Six. Mysterio fights many different battles with Spider-Man on different occasions. His illusions take on many forms, from faking Aunt May's death to creating demons and robots. However, he kept getting defeated by Spider-Man and arrested. Eventually he was kept in a maximum security prison for several years, only being released when he is diagnosed with a brain tumor and lung cancer. Intent on killing one last superhero before he dies, Mysterio targets Daredevil and, with the help of Kingpin, attempts to kill him. When that fails, Mysterio pulls out a gun and shoots himself dead, and no illusions either, He goes to Hell, but the demons there send him back to earth to maintain a cosmic balance.
