Learn to Use - Knights
Knights, the hardest piece to use and understand, but also one of the best.
How It Moves: Knights move in an irregular way, different from any of the other pieces. Knights are also able to do forks easily compared to other pieces such as the queen or rook. Knights can move in any direction 3 spaces with one turn so, up up over or up over over. Or down but i say "up" in my head.
How it Forks so Well: The knight can fork very well because it can either check your opponent's king and threaten another piece at the same time or threaten a high value piece such as a queen or rook and another piece, so you would win in points from that battle either way.
Disadvantages of the Knight: The knight is an overall very versatile piece but also has it's disadvantages like if you're in an endgame where you have a knight and the opponent has for example a bishop they would have the advantage over all because they could avoid forks if they see them) and move across the board faster than a knight can, it's almost guaranteed a draw in that position though but it was an example.
Advantages of a Knight: As i've already said, they can do forks easily and can move in an irregular direction. They're also the only pieces that can jump over other pieces, that's why some people start by moving one of their knights and not their pawns. Which isn't the best, but not everyone plays to win.
Let me know if this helped you! I love knights and see lots of people miss forks or just not understanding the piece so i made this to try to help, peace! Have fun playing chess!
