Every X-Men Movie Ranked

BREAKING NEWS: I got too far into X-Men.

I'm sorry... but I think I might be becoming an X-Men nerd.

First it was Star Wars. Then it was Marvel. Then it was Transformers ( It didn‘t last very long ). Then it was Fantastic Four. Then, finally, it was X-Men. I always thought X-Men looked really weird and that I would never watch it… but here we are.

X-Men is an entire new world that is VERY underrated for what it is. In today's blog, I will be ranking AND reviewing every X-Men movie in existence.

Please note: I have not seen Logan or Deadpool.

Enjoy!

X-MEN

REVIEW 🔥

X2

Probably the best X-Men movie, in my opinion. Deathstrike was AWESOME and Nightcrawler was cool too.

I did have 1 note, though:

  • Religions are confusing

I don't get the religions in X-Men. They talk about evolution a LOT but then in this film, Nightcrawler is a very serious CHRISTIAN. I never understood this. Comment below what you think!

X-MEN: THE LAST STAND

The overall movie was mid but there were just too many questions not answered. This film was supposed to be the "Endgame" of the X-Men movies but it just didn't go as well as everyone thought it would.

Here are my notes:

  • Rouge wasn't even a big character in this movie- Why was Rogue LITERALLY the main character in the first movie then a background character in this one? This movie could have set Rogue off in an even better direction than in the second one but it just got too complicated.
  • Rogue taking the cure was unsatisfying- Given the fact that Rogue wasn't even a big character in this movie, it made literally no sense to give her the cure. It made me very upset that this happened. Sure, even though Rogue's power is absolutely TERRIFYING, it's also absolutely AWESOME. Terrible ending for her character.
  • Kitty and Bobby's relationship was unsatisfying- Bobby's a jerk. He falls in love with Rogue and then leaves her in the dust for a girl that we didn't even know existed until this movie. Their relationship was developed too much just for it to end like that.
  • Kitty's character wasn't devolved enough- If you are going to make Bobby fall in love with another girl, maybe don't make it a girl we know NOTHING about. Like I said, Rouge was literally the main character in the first movie so her relationship with Bobby MADE SENSE. But then, Kitty randomly spawns in and it turns into this deep romance... WHAT!?! BOBBY? ARE YOU FORGETTING SOMETHING? UH... MAYBE THE GIRL YOU DATED FOR MONTHS!?
  • The ending scene with Wolverine and Jean should have been drawn out a bit longer- I thought this scene was going to be a super dramatic and be 10 minutes long, but it all happened really fast. They didn't give us a lot of time to digest what happened.
  • Magneto's army just despawned after the battle- What the heck happened to Magneto's army at the end of the battle? All of them just literally disappeared. Thoughts? Comment below!
  • Warren Worthington and his dad also despawned- The guy with the wings, Warren Worthington, also disappeared after the battle. I thought he was going to be a much bigger character in this movie since one of the very first scenes opened with him but he ended up being a super quiet mutant that just seemed very random and not too important to the plot. Yeah, I know his dad was REALLY important to the plot but he also disappeared to who knows where at the end.
  • What's to prevent more people from coming back to the school?- In X2, the bad guys found the school and broke in... what's to prevent that from happening again? Clearly, people know where the academy is now so anyone could just walk in. Comment below what you think!
  • Why were the kids left alone while Wolverine, Storm, and the others left to go fight?- They X-Men just sorta left all the students at the school ALONE while they left to go fight... did anyone else notice this?
  • What in the world happened to Mystique?- After losing her powers, Magneto just leaves Mystique on the floor, naked. Then later, she comes back for a split second at the end, turning in information about Erik and his team... then is never shown again... huh?! Who KNOWS where she could be now!
  • Will the cure continue?- We never really got to see the cure's ending. Will it continue? Comment below!

Too many blank spaces, sorry... it wasn't as good as the rest of them.

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE

Pretty good movie but I did have a few questions:

  • Opening scene was very confusing with all the different parents and siblings
  • Why does Wolverine have 3 names? ( Jimmy, Logan, Wolverine )- I'm not completely sure but I think Jimmy was his birth name, Logan was his code name, and then Wolverine was his superhero name.......................... dang, that's confusing.
  • Will we see Gambit again?- I have not seen Deadpool & Wolverine, but I would really like to see Gambit again. Will he ever get a standalone movie? What do you think?
  • Wade was actually quite funny- I don’t get why they had to make Wade such an inappropriate and violent character in the end. Actors and actresses are always saying that they do their movies to inspire the next generation; but movies like Deadpool CAN’T inspire the next generation because they’re rated R……………. you dig where I’m coming from?

I also had some very minor side notes:

  • Super glad they did not actually show needles going through Logan's head- 😂
  • Deadpool's eyes were a bit disturbing- 👀

I really need to watch the first X-Men movie again now that I know Logan’s backstory. It will probably be 20 times more significant.

Overall, a pretty good movie!

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

I did not understand all the hate for this prequel/sequel series in X-Men franchise. I thought this movie was GREAT!

I made a few notes:

  • Professor X was a bit of a bad boy back in the day- No comment. 😂
  • Logan's cameo was crazy- No comment. 😂
  • Beast was ugly bro- What did they do to my bro. 😭😭😭
  • All the different missiles and stuff were confusing- Didn’t really understand all the different bombs and where the bombs went so I got a little lost at times. 😂
  • The name picking was super dumb- I feel like in all of these low budget prequel films to very famous movie franchises, one scene, where they show how the team members or the team name is chosen… And it never ends well… 😂😂😂 HOW DID THEY RANDOMLY COME UP WITH THESE NAMES?!? 😂😂😂
  • Alex's power didn't even work in the ending scene so it felt kinda pointless- Not a lot more to say…
  • Was the cure Hank created the same as the one in The Last Stand? If so, how the heck is that even possible?- In the film, Hank creates a cure to help Mystique’s appearance/mutation. THEN LATER, Warren Worthington’s dad creates a DIFFERENT cure that get’s rid of a mutant’s powers PERMANENTLY. These two cures are very similar but it doesn’t make sense, logically. Think about it: in The Last Stand, Beast is fighting against the cure and trying to save the mutants… but then, in this film, he creates his OWN cure………… hmmmm…. COMMENT BELOW WHAT YOU THINK!
  • Kevin Bacon- 🤦‍♂️

Really an AWESOME movie. ( I was surprised! )

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

I got hooked. After watching First Class, I just immediately jumped to this one.

This film definitely gave off a little more of a Star Wars vibe towards the beginning but it jumped into the plot very quickly... maybe a little too quickly.

I had some notes about stuff that I really didn't understand, like...

  • How did Mystique get her powers back?- It makes no sense, because Mystique never left Magneto until the end of The Last Stand... and she was powerless. Thoughts???
  • Why is Quicksilver in X-Men and Marvel?- Honestly, I think Quicksilver is the best character in the X-Men franchise. What's not to love? But, yes, I never understood why he was in X-Men AND Marvel. I know X-Men and Marvel are sorta the same thing but it doesn't make sense because... #1, they're in a totally different universe. And #2, Quicksilver in Age Of Ultron and Quicksilver in this movie are 2 totally different people. Maybe this is because they are in a different universe but let's not forget, he IS in WandaVision.
  • Where is Wanda?- If Quicksilver's there, where's Wanda? Will she ever appear in the X-Men?
  • Where was Moria?- I know she is in Apocalypse AND she got her memories erased, but where is Moria in this film?
  • Ending scene made no freaking sense- Even after watching Apocalypse, the ending of this movie still didn't make sense. Was that Mystique as Stryker? If so, why was that just completely ignored in this movie?
  • How is all of this not causing branches in the timeline?- This is what I really want to know: if you compare Loki, Deadpool & Wolverine, or literally anything else produced by Marvel, you'll find that all of them don't go on what Hank said earlier on in this film: "There’s a theory in quantum physics that time is immutable. It’s like a river – you can throw a pebble in and create a ripple, but the current always corrects itself. No matter what you do the river just keeps flowing in the same direction." Take a look at Loki. Is that what happens when a timeline branches? It just... corrects itself? NO. They need people like the TVA and Loki to bring the timeline back to its original state. Look at Deadpool & Wolverine. I haven't seen it, but I know enough to say this: it doesn't follow what Hank said. ( Plus, that's an X-Men movie ) Thoughts? Did I just discover something extraordinary? 😂 Comment below what you think!

Despite some little things I might have picked up on, I thought this movie was really good!

THE WOLVERINE

I ain't gonna lie, this should have been rated R.

The beginning was fine because it was so SLOW to start, but it just got worse by the second.

My notes:

  • WAY too violent- Viper was creepy: ripping off her skin and just her power in general, Logan stabbing his chest open and getting the parasite thing out of his heart was really disgusting and disturbing, the drilling into Logan’s fingers was creepy, blades going into the old guy’s head was pretty violent for a PG-13 movie… it ALL felt way too violent for a PG-13 movie.
  • The ending with Jean Grey calling Logan was very cheesy and poorly written- It gave some Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 vibes 😂 iykyk...
  • Wished I had watched before Days of Futures Past- I watched before because I got hooked on the prequel series after First Class but now I deeply regret it; the film answered a lot of questions I had.

Too creepy for me. Disappointed.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Dang. This movie was... not at ALL what I expected.

Almost EVERYTHING in this movie didn't add up to the original X-Men trilogy. Don't believe me? Take a look:

  • Is Angel the same person as Warren Worthington? If so, how the heck is that possible?- He literally blew up and was tortured by Apocalypse, bringing his new wings out… explain?
  • Why is Scott so mean in this movie?- My bro was a jerk in this movie.
  • Why did Havok never mention his brother was Scott?- Am I just deaf or did Alex never say anything about Scott being his brother… I feel like that’s a very important thing to know…
  • In X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Scott was found by Professor X and taken to the school... and then in this movie, none of that apparently ever happened and he was introduced to Charles by Alex- It makes absolutely no sense...
  • Magneto's comeback was pretty depressing but also pretty AWESOME, I ain’t gonna lie- 😎
  • Who is Caliban and why wasn't he in any other of the movies?- This man was scarier than Blippi and he wasn’t even in any of the other movies.
  • I don't know a lot about the X-Men comics and cartoons back in the day, but I do know that Jubilee is a much bigger character in those then she was in this movie- She literally got like 4 minutes of screen time, blud. 😒
  • The whole thing with Quicksilver being Magneto's son was super confusing... how the heck did we not know this before?- This was insanely confusing to me. Why is Quicksilver Magneto’s son? It all happened so fast and at first I thought it was just a joke but then it was like… real. Why wasn’t this said before? Does this mean that Wanda came from HIS DNA? 😂
  • Weapon X made literally no sense... did the director even watch X-Men Origins?- I’m actually so confused about this… please comment below what the heck even happened here…
  • Stryker just despawned by the end of the movie...- Stryker randomly just came out of no where and then just disappeared. What was the point in having him in this movie?
  • How is it possible that Storm and Night crawler met before X2?- Too many QUESTIONS!!! In X2 the 2 like fall in love or whatever but in this movie when they meet, they barely even talk to each other… none of it makes any sense…

I guess the movie was fine but there were just too many things that didn’t add up.

X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX

As if I wasn't confused enough after Apocalypse, FOX decided it was a good idea to make a fourth prequel movie.

But I wouldn't even call it a prequel.

There were just one too many things wrong here:

  • At the beginning of The Last Stand, Professor X and Magneto meet Jean for the first time at her house and take her into the school… but in THIS one, Professor X meets her in a doctors office WITHOUT Magneto and takes her into the school…- They payed no attention whatsoever to the opening of Last Stand. 🤦‍♂️
  • X-Women agenda is crazy- I just can't take it, blud... 😂😂😂
  • Why is Quicksilver not funny in this movie- Quicksilver is my sigma but he barely even TALKED in this movie. It was crazy.
  • What happened to Quicksilver being Magneto's son?- In this film, they seemed to completely ignore the fact that Peter is Erik's son. Even though I never understood why that was ever a thing, it still didn't add up.
  • Who are these aliens?- They sort of just spawn in from no where and then all of a sudden are taking over Earth... excuse me? WHO ARE THOSE THINGS?!
  • How is Raven dead, blud…- This was just... depressing. And also, THAT'S NOT EVEN FREAKING POSSIBLE. SHE'S LITERALLY IN THE NEXT 3 MOVIES!!! NOTHING MAKES SENSE TO ME ANYMORE!!! I QUIT!!!
  • Who are Erik’s assistants?- We never really get to see who these people are before they're chucked out of a train.
  • Jean Gray school?!?- 🥱
  • Ending was unsatisfying with the phoenix flying overhead- It just had a super cheesy, low budget animated Disney movie kind of vibe to it.

I thought the movie was fine, just like Apocalypse, but it could have been better.

From the very beginning I didn't really have high hopes for this movie, and apparently, I was right.

My final notes on the X-Men:

Original Trilogy- 7.8/10 stars. X-Men was pretty good, a little creepy. X2 was AWESOME, nothing wrong with it. X-Men: The Last Stand was mid, too many blank spaces. Overall, a great watch!

Prequel/Reboot Series- Almost all these movies are the same: Erik and Charles start off on the wrong foot but then in the end get back together again. Then in the next movie, something sets Erik off again and he goes ballistic. ( Example: his wife and daughter dying; another example: Raven being killed by Jean ) But, besides that, I thought First Class was AMAZING, also nothing really wrong with it. Days Of Future Past was great, not too many questions left open. The last 2, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix were fine, just nothing about them really came together with the originals.

So, there you have it!

The X-Men franchise is a very unique film series that isn't known to many. It can be funny, it can be serious, it can be intense, and it can even be so confusing you just want to cry.

I really enjoyed this experience and entering this whole new world. I just wish I did it sooner.
