My Take On DC
Believe it or not, your favorite movie critic, @Jehtt, ( That's me in case you didn't know ) has only seen 3 and a half DC movies. ( I'm more of a Marvel guy... don't judge me... )
In today's blog, I will be talking about my view of DC and where the 3 and a half movies I saw stand among Marvel. Enjoy!
Marvel. Star Wars. X-Men. The Lord Of The Rings. Transformers. All of these film series and more are at a constant war with each other. Where does DC fit in?
DC is PACKED with SUPERfamous SUPERheroes like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, even the CONDIMENT KING! I would say superhero wise, DC wins. But what about STORY wise?
Like I've said, I've only seen 3 and a half DC movies but I think I've got a pretty clear idea of how DC does it. And based on what I've seen, it wasn't too good:
AQUAMAN 1 & 2- A little too boring, Jason Mamoa is just a TERRIBLE actor, Willem Dafoe scares me, and the overall movie was way too predictable.
SHAZAM!- Sure, I laughed a couple of times but I thought the whole MOVIE was going to be one big joke. From the trailer, it looked like the funniest movie ever... and then it ended up being about all these stupid demons and stuff... WHAT!?! You can have a villain, just don't completely forget the fact that the movie's supposed to be a COMEDY. I pushed myself to keep watching and try not to throw my TV in the dumpster, but it never got any better. For what it was, the movie should've been only an hour long but instead it was 2 and a half. Way too weird, not enough laughs.
BLUE BEETLE- Now this movie was AWESOME. Besides the language, this movie was everything I hoped and dreamed it would be. It was funny, action-packed, but also a little predictable.
I think overall Marvel takes the W on this one. DC I think lacks a lot of story compared to Marvel. Marvel has a beautifully designed TIMELINE of movies and DC just seems to do whatever makes the most money. ( *Cough Cough* jOkER foLIe à dEuX )
The director of Blue Beetle, Angel Manuel Soto LITERALLY said in an interview Blue Beetle 2 will only happen if it makes money. That's actually INSANE. This man PUBLICLY announced that DC can only continue if they make money... wow.
I am, though, very excited that James Gunn is the new CEO of DC. ( I do feel a little betrayed as a Guardians of the Galaxy fan, but whatever ) This could save the DCU and make a big impact on a lot of upcoming DC projects like Blue Beetle 2.
DC fans, get ready. We could either be in for some crazy awesome movies, or some absolute garbage.
