The Mandalorian And Grogu Movie Review

The Mandalorian And Grogu Movie Review

In no galaxy, not even far, far away, (Heh) did I ever picture The Mandalorian And Grogu at the top of my 2026 movie rankings. But it earned it.

Recently, I have mentioned a COUNTLESS amount of times how since Marvel was introduced to my life, Star Wars has been just blocked out; basically not even a thought in my mind. I also have recently mentioned a COUNTLESS amount of times that The Mandalorian Disney+ show has been the only thing from Star Wars I can actually still sit through. This film was entertaining the entire 2 hours and 12 minutes because it stuck to the same, well-done methods of the series.

That's one thing this movie did right.

My biggest worry for this thing before watching was how, from the looks of all the footage, it really just seemed like a compilation of like 25 different Imperial targets Mando had to catch, and him... well... catching them. I was so, so, so glad that the plot actually made sense, flowed nicely, and connected to everything going on at all times.

That's a second thing this movie did right. Want more details? I hope you read my notes section. 🤣

Welcome to the Mandalorian And Grogu movie review.

TABLE OF CONTENTS:
INTRODUCTION | NOTES | CONCLUSIONCREDITS

  • At the beginning of the film during the previews, I thought it was incredibly clever how the Minions were searching for trailers on their desktop lol
  • I believe this is my 3rd or 4th time in Dolby Atmos, and this time I pretty much expected it; this movie actually deserved to be seen in that format; it was EPIC; in fact, it was so stinkin' epic that my ears haven't stopped ringing 🤓💀 (Fandango actually just updated so now it tells me right off the bat if it’s Dolby or if it's standard thank goodness 🤣)
  • Besides the very end with all the X-wings which I will talk about coming up, I really appreciated how original this movie was in pair with the show; I didn’t pick up on many references or recycled jokes, making it feel like a fresh adventure for Mando; I will say though, the fact that Dave Filoni was basically the only cameo, I have mixed thoughts on that; like I just said, originality was great throughout this one, but if I’m gonna be completely honest, I wish we got to see some other characters again like the Armorer, Peli Motto, or maybe even Cobb Vanth who we saw in the post-credits of Boba Fett; I know we saw all these characters a numerous amount of times in the show, but like I said, this movie was kind of the first time I felt nostalgia in the theaters so I was kind of hoping for all the cameos haha
  • The "Star Wars" words were not crawling up the screen this time around, but we did get something similar 🙃
  • “But we’re pilots!”
    It’s a walker… wouldn’t you just say “we’re drivers” 🤓💩
  • I think I got the closest thing to nostalgia when the logo came on that huge screen and that iconic theme started playing 🥹
  • Why is Zeb Mando’s partner? I feel like that was just a dumb way of grabbing some Rebels fans lol he did zilch for the story 😅
  • The planet is called Shakari? Shakira? 🤓🤣
  • I usually can’t stand the hutts, but I thought it was kind of cool how they reintroduced the twins from Boba Fett; I didn’t even recognize them from the trailers; honestly, I just thought they were new characters
  • Yeah, I watched the atrocious animated Clone Wars movie, but I didn’t remember much about Rotta The Hutt going into that theater today; turns out, he's a cheesy, weak little wimp; his whole sob story about trying not to be like his father made me hate the character pretty much the entire film 🙏
  • What’s this whole deal about salt? 😅
  • “Always wear your seatbelt”
    That’s right, kids 😊🤣
  • I am very, very, very grateful that we didn’t get into the whole Mandalore scheme again with Bo-Katan; ngl, that and the whole thing with Dr. Pershing made me furious with season 3
  • All the action sequences here were stunning
  • Bro Grogu picked up that staff and he was quite literally BABY YODA, bruh 😅
  • The whole deal when Mando was poisoned and Grogu went on his own little side quest with the swamp jit literally took up about 15 whole minutes of the movie... and it did not have to; I know that whole chunk of time was meant to be like a "catch your breath" moment and it may or may not have strengthened Mando and Grogu's relationship a bit, but honestly, it could have been a short little montage or possibly cut entirely; it made the movie much longer than it should have been and made me question if the film was going downhill (It didn't really 🙃)
  • Normally, when a ship crashes into a palace, it blows up 🤣
  • Loved all the music/score
  • The squid monster thing basically ate its own butt when it was gobbling up one of the hutt twins at the end 💩😅
  • I didn’t even see Embo fall down at the end; one second he was just fighting Mando, and then the next he was down there in the pit watching the hutts get swallowed up 💩 (Also, I barely had any idea who "Embo" even was going into the that theater and I still don't; COMMENT BELOW WHO EMBO IS! 🙃)
  • The new Republic to the rescue at the end I thought was really overdone and I feel like I’ve seen that kind of ending 1 billion times before in almost every other Star Wars movie in existence; the climax should have either ended with Embo getting away and the hutts eaten, or they should have just gotten out of the palace themselves really quickly to avoid any redundant stuff
  • Hold up what is "Fairview Entertainment"? Is that in relation with Jon Favreau's last name or sum? Did he create a new film studio? COMMENT BELOW!

The third act had its issues, plus, one or two characters weren’t the best or maybe didn't even feel necessary at times, but none of that compared to the absolute blast I had seeing (And hearing at 200 dB 💀🤣) Mando on the big screen.

I need a sequel or a season 4. Or 10 sequels and no season 4. 😊😅

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed!

Jetplane Movies has been such an amazing journey for me. To look back over the years and see my style of writing change has been so fun and it's been such a blessing having all of y'all by my side. Whether this is your first time reading, or you've been a fan since the beginning. I thank you; from the bottom of my heart. This has been a very exciting part of my writing career and I'm so happy with how it's turned out. It's definitely had its ups and downs, (*Cough Cough* The @Jehtt Tribute) but I'm so excited to now be able to share these blogs with the Chess.com community... even though they are ALL about movies. Enjoy!
