My Chess.com Goals for the Year Ahead

My Chess.com Goals for the Year Ahead

Greetings users of Chess.com. Happy 2025!

As we head into a new year, I want to take a moment to reflect on my time on Chess.com and set some exciting goals for the months ahead. Whether you're here to learn, compete, or enjoy the game, there's always room for growth. Here’s what I’m aiming to achieve on the platform in 2025!

1: Becoming a Chess.com Moderator.

One of my main goals this year is to join the incredible team of moderators on Chess.com. I’ve spent countless hours (over eight per day, to be semi-exact!) engaging with the site, exploring its features, and contributing to the community.

Here’s why I believe I’d be a great fit for the role:

Deep Familiarity: I’ve unlocked every achievement award (a feat only 5% of users have accomplished) and know the site inside and out.

Active Community Presence: I enjoy browsing the forums, especially the 'Unanswered Posts' section, where I help out members with questions or issues.

Passion for the Platform: My commitment to the Chess.com community goes beyond just playing games—I genuinely care about improving the user experience.

I’m ready to step up and help make Chess.com an even better place for all players.

2: Mastering Puzzle-Solving (Yes, Even More!)

Many of you know me for my Puzzle Rush Survival achievements. Holding the #1 spot globally (officially) with a score of 1,234 has been an honour, but it doesn’t mean there’s no room for improvement.

One specific area I’m focused on is mastering the puzzles in the 30–65 range during Survival runs. These puzzles draw from a much larger pool, making them significantly more challenging. Even as someone who loves puzzles, this is an area where I know I can sharpen my skills further.

My goal isn’t just to maintain my top ranking but to push my limits and refine my approach to these mid-range puzzles.

3: Experimenting with Timed Survival Runs.

While I love the current timed Puzzle Rush formats (3 and 5 minutes), I’ve been wondering: how far could I go if I did a timed Survival run for 20 minutes?

This experiment will allow me to:

1: Test my endurance under pressure.

2: Focus on balancing speed with accuracy over a longer period.

3 Allow me to discover new strategies for approaching puzzles when there’s a time limit.

Looking ahead:

Chess.com has been a significant part of my life, and I’m excited to dive into 2025 with these ambitious goals. Whether it’s becoming a moderator, improving my puzzle-solving skills, or exploring new formats, I’m committed to making the most of my time on the platform and contributing to the community.

What are your Chess.com goals for the year? Let’s inspire each other to grow, learn, and achieve new heights!

Happy solving,
@JosephReidNZ
