Back for More
I am back from my chess sabbatical. Well it wasn't really a sabbatical at all, but rather my own life once again taking its various twists and turns. You know how life is: one hobby gives way to another, which in turns gives way to a relationship of some kind, which inevitably gives way to termination of said relationship and the requisite partying and irresponsible lifestyle. Honestly, I've always had a hard time sticking with any one particular thing and getting good at it. But I come back to Chess now, having remembered my promise to myself that achieving some level of mastery of this amazing game would be a lifetime worthwhile venture.
In order to get back into the swing of things slowly, I will present to you an annotated game. This is the first game I've completed on Chess.com since starting to play again after two years or so of absence. It's full of mistakes and blunders on both sides, but illustrates some interesting points and has a couple cool forced mates which I will submit as puzzles in a separate blog post for your enjoyment. I really enjoyed annotating my other games, and it offers a great opportunity for retrospection and examination of what went well and what could have been done better. Good to be back!
