Is En Passant Forced?? Hilarious Chess Blunders
Is En Passant Forced? Where did the rule en passant even come from?
En passant was born sometime in the 13th to 16th centuries when pawns first were allowed to move 2 squares on the first move. The rule was meant to counteract a pawn's ability to use this new 2 square mobility to avoid capture from the opponent's advanced pawn.
However, more recently, this has become a huge meme in current day chess culture. Are you a subscriber of the AnarchyChess mentality that en passant is forced? Or do you calculate the position as any other position? Or do you simply forget that en passant exists?
Watch my latest video to see how I used this question to trick my opponent to giving away his whole advantage in a hilarious, blundering blitz game.
