Christmas is NOT Pagan
I know that if I post this on FaceBook I'm going to get bashed, so I'm posting it here,
Many people have claimed either, Christmas has pagan origins or Christmas to this day IS pagan. There is very little evidence to back up either of these claims. According to Answers in Genesis Christmas may have had pagan origins, but no longer does. And GotQuestions goes a step further as to say that there is practically no evidence to suggest Christmas is a pagan holiday.
According to GotQuestions.org,
"First, the pagan origins of Christmas are far from certain. The winter solstice, often tied with Christmas, never falls on December 25. Likewise, Saturnalia, which has also been proposed [as] an origin of Christmas, was never celebrated on December 25. Other Christmas symbols, such as trees and candles, may have had some pagan connotations, but these are so common in human experience that it can hardly be claimed that their use was ever exclusive to paganism."
Generally, the crowd that states "Christmas is pagan" has a hard time finding a reliable source that could come close to proving that Christmas is indeed pagan.
This does not go without saying that Christmas should not be celebrated with Santa Clause. Clause is an adaptation of St. Nicholas (Santa meaning saint). Which again, the worship of saints IS tied to paganism. But everything else from trees, lights, chocolate, whatever it may be, can hardly be pinned to paganism.
Anyway, I posted the following on FaceBook, but I fear that even this might make people mad, Viewer Discretion is advised,
"Do I really have to keep trying to ignore all of the posts by Christians saying Christmas is pagan? No offense if you think it is, but there is literally nothing wrong with celebrating the LORD's birth on Dec. 25. We celebrate it all year long, but for reasons concerning pagan holidays, it's bad to celebrate it on the 25th of December. K.
