
Develop, Develop, Develop
For the students of KLA Chess Club, a title I, K-8 charter school located in southeast San Diego.
I'm noticing in our weekly games that some of us are creating attacks way too early. It is like going into a fight with half of your weapons. Unless you are playing a significantly weaker opponent who really doesn't know what he or she is doing, be patient and develop.

Here is another example of poor development. In this game, both sides allow a single knight to march right in and take a rook.
Now, let's take a look at an example of a game where good development helps white. Notice how patient white is before the attack takes place.
