For the students of KLA Chess Cluba title I, K-8 charter school located in southeast San Diego. 

 I'm noticing in our weekly games that some of us are creating attacks way too early. It is like going into a fight with half of your weapons. Unless you are playing a significantly weaker opponent who really doesn't know what he or she is doing, be patient and develop. 

Here are some examples of our games from last week...

See how black's premature attack with the Queen leads him to a disaster...


Here is another example of poor development. In this game, both sides allow a single knight to march right in and take a rook. 

Below is another example of a game where black is over zealous and fails to develop properly.

 

Now, let's take a look at an example of a game where good development helps white. Notice how patient white is before the attack takes place.
