Chess Accuracy Data Collection
Last week, I had a great video idea come to mind in a moment of inspiration. I need your help to make this idea happen though.
There’s lots of cheating accusations and people suspicious of others. The current chess.com “game estimate” rating is really bad (great idea chess.com, but poor execution as the AI technology just isn’t there yet) and playing bots to estimate your rating is an awful idea too, since they don’t play human-like moves. Without going down Kramnik’s paranoia route, I brainstormed what would be a simple, yet effective way of estimating your own rating compared to where you feel you should be at. I got it!
CAPS! That stands for Computer Aggregated Precision Score. I’ve talked about it in a video before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXOnBJ4KX1U
It’s a trustworthy statistic by chess.com, but it’s misleading in some ways (as that video elaborates on). My simple idea is to simply compare average accuracy to your rating and then record that entry and then have the same from many other chess players to find the (strong, positive) correlation which I expect to be really reliable as an estimate.
My video idea would require me to run the Insights report for many of my chess.com friends and manually input the data for my video… then I encountered an obstacle and this is where I need all of your help.
Apparently chess.com requires a diamond membership to run the Insights AND the player may only run the report for their own account; in other words, I can only see my own Insights statistics; I can’t see the Insights from my friends.
If willing to help, I need you to check your chess.com Insights and share the information I ask for (I’ll share what soon). If you don’t have a diamond membership, then you can use this link to a free alternative to also check your Insights: https://chessinsights.xyz
I would like to know the Insights for Rapid Rating last 90 days (what I believe chess.com considers “active players”).
The information I need is: chess.com username, Current chess.com Rapid rating, Total Average Accuracy, Accuracy Win, Accuracy Draw, Accuracy Loss, and lastly what site. The chess.com Insights I’ll label “Site A” and if you used the free alternative, then that will be “Site B.”
I’m interested in Rapid, last 90 days, to keep the data consistent, but feel free to additionally share the same for other time controls if you main another time control instead and wish to share that information as well. Just make sure to clearly describe what time control that is for.
Here’s a screenshot of how I’ll organize the data. I’m using my own profile as the example and my first data entry:
Thank you for your help, everyone. I’m grateful for all who choose to contribute their chess statistics for me to create this video
