Ko-fi & What This Means For My YouTube
I have good news everyone! I’ve had several people ask me if I have a place where they can donate to me. I was grateful that people wanted to help me out, but this is when I’d get shy and tell them that I just wanted to help them through my chess content and that I never setup a place for donations. Of course, some extra money for upgrades to my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@kesetokaiba/videos (and similar) would be a boost. With practicality in mind, I’ve now setup such a place for donations. I now have a Ko-fi page!
What Is Ko-fi?
For those who don’t know, Ko-fi is like Patreon and similar services. It is a place where supporters can donate to content creators and Ko-fi doesn’t take any fees. Patreon takes some donations (I believe Patreon is a 70-30 split), but Ko-fi doesn’t take any. If you are a content creator and don’t already use Ko-fi, then this is worth looking into. Ko-fi uses PayPal to make donations, so all you need to donate is a PayPal account. They can also accept donations through Apple Pay and credit cards via a Stripe account, but I backed out of this option when trying to connect because it looks like this option makes your phone number and address publicly available. I guess this is a good thing to have if you have a customer support phone number and have a business address, but as I’m just a college student with a YouTube channel, I don’t have such a company established and I have no interest in doxxing myself lol.
Thanks for being a part of this chess journey with me everyone
If anyone is interested in donating, here is the hyperlink to my Ko-fi page:
I just created the Ko-fi account recently, so I don’t have any “goal” setup yet, but perhaps one donation goal soon could be money for a webcam, or other streaming equipment. Thanks for being the kind and wonderful people you all are ![]()
