Ding Liren (Chinese: 丁立人; pinyin: Ding Liren, born October 24, 1992) is a Chinese chess grandmaster. He is the first Chinese person to ever play in the Candidates Tournament and surpass the 2800 Elo mark on the FIDE world rankings. Currently he is the world chess champion. He is the highest ranked Chinese player and also the first world chess champion from China to date, marking the end of a nearly decade-long world championship period - 9 year of former chess king Magnus Carlsen (2013-2022).

Career
Youth tournaments
November 2002: U10, world youth chess championship in Heraklio, tied with Eltaj Safarli, 9½/11 points, ranked 2nd due to poor tiebreak.[2].
In November 2004, Dinh once again tied for the championship points but only won the silver medal due to a poor score at the World Youth Chess Championship with compatriot Zhao Nan in the U12 age category in Heraklion[3]. In the tournament, he defeated peers who later became top players in the world such as Caruana and So[4].
