Going on back to e4
I had a 6 month long stint with d4 and I am calling it quits. The reasons? I really like d4, but there are too many defenses involved and they usually know more than me. Plus, they can prepare drawing lines against me. Also, I am a natural attacking player gifted with an incredible intuition. e4 sharpens my tactics and will be better experience. I finally worked my kinks out in the Sicilian! I am playing patchwork right now, but that's okay. I am finding that deviating from the main lines early might be my best bet to prevent people booking up on me and taking them out of theirs. I can imagine people seeing the Maroczy-Alekhine Gambit in the French and having no idea what to do. I am still working on facing the Alekhine, Scandinavian, Pirc, and Caro-Kann, but I got my two biggest opening nemesis out of the way, so that's a good thing.
