Hi Guys and gals !!

Today I am going to be talking about endgames .As I told in my previous blog there are three stages in chess

1.Openings

2.Middle Games

3.Endgames

All these stages are important but Knowing how to play endgames can decide weather you win or lose.Endgame is the stage where Kings come out to defend and attack pieces and also the stage where the king are the most active.Pushing passed pawns, keeping opposition are just some of things one needs to know to excel at endgames. This Guide wont make you excel. You have to use time and learn this guide. This obviously doesnt contain all the info on how to excel at endgames. You have to research  and learn.

Some helpful links:

In those pages there are many things you can learn.

Ok back to topic.

Learn the basic checkmates.

Nothing much to say except learning the basic checkmates is very and by very I really mean very important. On the topic of Endgames here are some puzzles. There can be many moves so I have given them without puzzle format

I took these puzzle from an app.I dont have the link sorry.

Pushing Passed Pawns

What are passed pawns??

Passed pawns are the pawns which do not have any pawns(mostly the pawns of your opponent)

in their way.

For Example

Here the pawn on c3 isnt a passed pawn but the pawn on f3 is a passed pawns.

Recognizing and pushing passed pawns is essential.

One example is

Along with this you also need to know about keeping opposition.

Opposition

In chess, opposition (or direct opposition) is the position in which two kings face each other on a rank or file, with only one square between them. Since kings cannot move immediately adjacent to each other , neither king can advance, creating a mutual blockade.( go Here). If it is black to move then black has the opposition and if it is white to move then white has the opposition and having opposition can be very important.

here is one example

Try to prevent doubled pawns

What are doubled pawns??

If 2 pawns are on the same file and same colour then they are called doubled pawns.Having doubled pawns can be a problem in endgames especially while pushing passed pawns since the front pawn always blocks the back pawn.
