Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! If you enjoy my content make sure to leave a nice comment and share this blog with as many people as possible! This article is not fully serious so take this advice with a side of salt. Have a nice day!

Do you know how to play chess but realize you aren't very good at it? Do you wish there was a way to get better at the game but don't want to put in the time? Well you are in luck because I happen to be a master at appearing good at things I'm actually mediocre at best at. In today's blog I will teach you how to fake it until you make it. Here are five ways to get better at chess without learning how to play the game.

Number 1. Mind Games

Did you make a move that looked good in the moment but actually doesn't benefit you? Well if your opponent doesn't see the mistake maybe you can make them think that the move was actually smart and they just don't understand it. Maybe do a quick smirk and look at the board. This may confuse your opponent throwing off their momentum and messing up their concentration giving you a way to potentially get back into the match.

Number 2. Make the Opponent Feel Bad for Beating You
Is your opponent just too good and they are clearly crushing you? Well if you start acting sad and make them feel bad for beating you they might loosen up allowing you to win! Some ways to do this include sighing to yourself, saying to them that it hurts that you have never even gotten close to beating them, and saying how worthless you are in chess and in general. The more realistic you make this, the better! It may not be the most morally correct thing to do but you are the one who asked how to get better at chess without practicing.

Number 3. Get Outside Advice from Someone Who's Good at the Game
Is your opponent even more dead inside then you and didn't fall for your guilt tripping or mind games? Well if that is the case and you actually have a friend who is good at chess you can "phone a friend" as they say. What I mean by this is have them tell you what moves to make. This way if you win then you were able to win a match but if you lose you can just blame your friend for losing! It's a win-win!

Number 4. Have Confidence in Yourself
In a game like chess mind games are important. We already went over how to weaken your opponent's mental game so now it's time to boost yours. In whatever move you do, have confidence in it. This can boost your mental game and you may trick yourself into actually finding good moves. This can also intimidate the opponent as you have full confidence in moves that may not be good on paper making the opponent weary.

Number 5. Just Try Your Best
Trying your best is important in anything you do. If you don't want to practice chess but you still want to win, just try your best and see what happens. Who knows? Maybe if you get lucky you'll find yourself in a winning position at the end of the match. Of course the other advice I gave will have varying results depending on who you are playing and how well you do but with this piece of advice it should benefit everyone. Never give up and just keep moving forward and one day maybe you can be the international grandmaster you strive to be. Good luck!
