My Weather Phenomenon

Nothing like a tornado to make your day (or ruin it!). I have been rather fascinated with weather my whole life, particularly tornados. I’ve had dreams about tornados on and off for years. I’ve been through some really rough weather; living in Wisconsin, we’re close to Tornado Ally, so we get a lot of what was probably intended for them, but was blown our way instead.

Tornados are a beautiful weather phenomenon. They are truly fascinating to observe. If lives and property where not at stake, I think I would love to see tornados everywhere. They are very majestic, and eerie in a way that makes them so very captivating.

We’ve been without any significantly severe weather for a couple of years now, so I’ve had to resort to other methods to feed my unnatural craving for destructive weather phenomena. Painting my own tornados is what I’m going to have to do for a while until I can see some more real ones! In my dreams, I’ve seen so many tornados, that I could paint one in my sleep. Here’s a tornado that I painted. It’s rather dark, so just look at it for a while, and let your eyes get used to it. I tried to make it look as dramatic as possible. Look at the clouds, how some are thinner than others, letting light though; look at the debris that the vortex is kicking into the air; notice the very faint rays of light coming down though the mist in the background.

I tried to make this painting look realistic, but yet give it a sense of fantasy.
